Rosas Fresh Pizza in Philadelphia has set up a scheme where people can donate $1 to buy a pizza for another customer who needs it. The donor then writes a message on a post-it and sticks it on the wall. When someone comes in who cannot afford to pay for a meal, they can take a post-it to the counter and can order a slice of pizza.

Rosa'a owner Mason Wartman started the scheme when a customer asked if they could buy a slice for a homeless person.

By June 2015 Mason had served 23,000 slices of $1 pizza and was serving up to 100 free meals a day.

What's happening in the picture?
What is on the walls?

Explain the story

- why is Mason giving away $1 pizza?
- Who do you think needs free pizza?
- Does Mason have rules for who can have pizza?
- Does Mason care about where people come from, their race, faith, sexuality or if they have a disability?
- What does this story have to do with No Outsiders?
- What can we learn from the people of Philadelphia and Rosa's Fresh Pizza?

Reginald Widener took this photo of a waiter at Cinco De Mayo Mexican Grill in Georgia, USA helping a man who has no hands, to eat his dinner. The waiter, Alex Ruiz, overheard the man asking for help and sat with him, chatting and helping him to eat for 30 minutes till the meal was finished.

Widener posted the picture on Facebook and wrote, "Still good people in the world".

Later, Alex Ruiz was interviewed by CNN about the incident and said, "I saw a man who needed help.... it makes me happy to help people." Later Alex said he didn't ask how the man had lost his hands because he didn't want him to feel uncomfortable.

What is happening in the picture?

Explain the story

- Why is the waiter helping the man?
-  How do you think the customer felt when he entered the restaurant?
- How do you think the customer felt when Alex Ruiz sat with him?
- What does this show us about Alex?
- What do you think this shows us about people around the world?
- Do you think Alex agrees with"No Outsiders"? What suggests he does agree?
- Why didn't Alex ask the man about his hands? What do you think they talked about for 30 minutes?
- What has this to do with the Equality Act 2010?

Murfield Golf Club, Scotland,  has been told they will not be considered as a venue for this years Open Golf Championship, because they have voted against allowing women members.

The R & A, organises The Open every year which is the most international golfing championship. The R & A governs 30 million golfers in 138 countries.

When the Murfield Golf Club voted for a men only club, the R & A said it, "Would not stage the open at a venue that does not admit women as members".

Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland's First Minister said, "Scotland has women leaders in every walk of life. It is 2016. This is simply indefensible."

George Kerevan, MP for East Lothian said, "I'm outraged by decision of minority at Murfield Golf Club to block admitting female members. Sad for golf, equality, democracy."

What;s happening in the picture? What sport is being played?
How is golf played? Who plays golf?

explain the story

- Why have Murfield voted against women members?
- What is the response?
- How will the decision affect the club now?
- What has this story got to do with "No Outsiders"?
- We know not everyone believes in "No Outsiders" like we do, what can we do about that?
- What law in the UK says women cannot face discrimination? (The Equality Act 2010) (Murfield is a private club which is why it is outside the Equality Act)
- If you could speak to the chairman at Murfield, what would you say?

AMY JOE FOUNDATION/GOFUNDME
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/man-teaches-homeless-woman-to-read-every-week-starts-foundation-to-help-others-in-need_us_57278c79e4b01a5ebde63581?utm_hp_ref=good-news

A man living in Florida, USA, met a homeless woman and was astonished when she told him she was collecting money for books instead of food because she wanted to learn to read.

Amy Joe told Gregg that she was unable to get a job because she struggles to read and since then Gregg has met her for lunch every Tuesday to read a book with her from the library. Amy then spends the rest of the week practising her reading skills.

Since meeting Amy, Gregg has set up a charity, the Amy Joe Foundation,  to help other homeless people find the things they need. He says, "I want to be able to help anybody, whether it be giving them food or clothes."

What's happening in this picture?
Who do you think the people might be? Why are they together?

Explain the photo

- How did Gregg meet Amy Joe?
- What does Amy Joe want to be able to do? Why?
-  Why is Gregg helping Amy Joe to read rather than just giving her money?
-  How will Gregg's choices change Amy Joe's life?
- What can we learn from Amy Joe?
- What can we learn from Gregg?
- How does this fit in to our No Outsiders message?
