Murfield Golf Club, Scotland,  has been told they will not be considered as a venue for this years Open Golf Championship, because they have voted against allowing women members.

The R & A, organises The Open every year which is the most international golfing championship. The R & A governs 30 million golfers in 138 countries.

When the Murfield Golf Club voted for a men only club, the R & A said it, "Would not stage the open at a venue that does not admit women as members".

Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland's First Minister said, "Scotland has women leaders in every walk of life. It is 2016. This is simply indefensible."

George Kerevan, MP for East Lothian said, "I'm outraged by decision of minority at Murfield Golf Club to block admitting female members. Sad for golf, equality, democracy."

What;s happening in the picture? What sport is being played?
How is golf played? Who plays golf?

explain the story

- Why have Murfield voted against women members?
- What is the response?
- How will the decision affect the club now?
- What has this story got to do with "No Outsiders"?
- We know not everyone believes in "No Outsiders" like we do, what can we do about that?
- What law in the UK says women cannot face discrimination? (The Equality Act 2010) (Murfield is a private club which is why it is outside the Equality Act)
- If you could speak to the chairman at Murfield, what would you say?
