A man living in Florida, USA, met a homeless woman and was astonished when she told him she was collecting money for books instead of food because she wanted to learn to read.

Amy Joe told Gregg that she was unable to get a job because she struggles to read and since then Gregg has met her for lunch every Tuesday to read a book with her from the library. Amy then spends the rest of the week practising her reading skills.

Since meeting Amy, Gregg has set up a charity, the Amy Joe Foundation,  to help other homeless people find the things they need. He says, "I want to be able to help anybody, whether it be giving them food or clothes."

What's happening in this picture?
Who do you think the people might be? Why are they together?

Explain the photo

- How did Gregg meet Amy Joe?
- What does Amy Joe want to be able to do? Why?
-  Why is Gregg helping Amy Joe to read rather than just giving her money?
-  How will Gregg's choices change Amy Joe's life?
- What can we learn from Amy Joe?
- What can we learn from Gregg?
- How does this fit in to our No Outsiders message?
